Fundraising activities at CMS help enhance the exceptional quality of educational materials and resources that CMS provides children. We are always grateful for the generous contributions, both monetary and otherwise, that CMS families and the Board of Trustees make to our school! We are sensitive to the fact that too many charitable activities can sometimes be overwhelming, and so the PTO and Board of Trustees try diligently to limit the number of annual fundraising activities without compromising the variety of options that many families have come to enjoy.

Fundraising events fall into two sponsorship categories: Board of Trustees and Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO). The funds raised by the events sponsored by both of these groups help support the mission of CMS in following the educational philosophy of Maria Montessori. The funds contribute to educational materials, improvements to our buildings and playgrounds, staff enrichment programs, and various student enrichment opportunities such as the foreign language and arts programs.

Following is a summary of the events planned for the 2006 - 2007 school year.

Board of Trustee Events:

Annual Giving Campaign to benefit the Annual Fund:
This campaign will run from June, 2006 through June, 2007. The money contributed to the Annual Fund increases our ability to provide excellent educational materials, faculty and staff enrichment, the arts, foreign language instruction, the physical education program, other student programs, and campus improvement.

"Winter Escape" to benefit the Annual Fund:
This year the event will be held in the Ulmstead Barn on February 24, 2007. The theme is Charting the Course – 100 years Montessori. There will be a silent and live auctions, great refreshments, and more - a great community event!

PTO Events:

Innisbrook Gift-Wrap:
During the very beginning of the school year, the PTO arranges for every CMS family to receive the Innisbrook Gift Wrap catalog. This offering extends opportunities to buy a wide variety of gift-wrap that speaks to all occasions, as well as other stationery items such as perpetual calendars, etc. The early distribution allows for CMS families to circulate the catalog amongst their friends, neighbors, and families in time to place and fill orders prior to the holidays. Almost one-half of the total Innisbrook sales are awarded back to the CMS PTO.

Spring Fair:
CMS's Annual Spring Fair is the most extensive event that the PTO sponsors. It is perhaps the fundraiser wherein the kids have the most fun. As its name suggests, the Fair takes place in the spring of each year. It is a wonderful opportunity to get out, enjoy the weather, and watch the kids have fun with their fellow classmates as well as their teachers. Families are encouraged to help sponsor this event by seeking/providing donations - everything from toys and gift certificates to plantings and home-baked cakes for the cake walk- as well as by volunteering their time to activity tables such as the bake goods table and the craft table.
