Chesapeake Montessori School has a staff of 21, including teachers, classroom assistants, Extended Day Program staff, and office staff.
All Montessori teachers at Chesapeake Montessori School were trained at an A.M.I. center. In order to earn the A.M.I. Toddler or Primary Diploma, one must hold a B.A. degree and undergo a year of intensive training. To earn an A.M.I. Advanced Diploma (for ages 6 to 12) one must study the Primary level and undergo a year of more intensive study at an A.M.I. center. During this training, in addition to studying the nature and requirements of the child from 6 to 12, one also learns more about the child from 2 1/2 to 6. Most Montessori teachers earn a Masters Degree as well.
